IT and telecommunications solution provider Fujitsu Network Communications announced on January 14 that the company will expand the existing R&D facilities in its Richardson headquarters to accommodate carrier-grade equipment R&D and testing for LTE (Long Term Evolution) and other next-generation wireless technologies, catering specifically to the North American market, according to a press release by the company. Aiming to become a hub for LTE R&D in the United States, Fujitsu's expanded Richardson lab is expected to focus on mobile services, LTE products and services, evaluation and prototyping of mobile applications, as well as seeking partnerships with third-party mobile solution providers.
